Scale · Project story

Course-by-course production stopped being a production model.

As university course production grew, the work widened from individual content projects to the system that could keep producing them.

01

The starting point

Volume changed the nature of the problem.

Producing a course as an individual project can work at a small scale. As the volume grows, each new course can require the same coordination, decisions, and process to be assembled again.

My responsibility for digital learning and content development included how courses were produced at scale. The work therefore had to address the organization around production as well as the content itself.

02

The work

Design the system around creation.

The shift involved roles, workflow, standards, quality assurance, and tooling. These elements were part of making production repeatable without rebuilding the process for every course.

The work described on the Work page includes more than one hundred courses and sustained production capacity. The number indicates the volume involved; the underlying problem was how that volume could be carried by an operating system.

03

The next development

Bring AI into a repeatable framework.

An AI-assisted course production framework was developed to replace separate course projects with a repeatable production system. It belongs to the same direction: design how work moves through production, rather than treat each output as an isolated commission.

The framework brings AI into the production approach through a repeatable workflow. The central design concern remains how the organization produces coherent learning at a larger volume.

04

What remained

Scale is a capacity to continue.

The result described here is a production capability around a substantial volume of courses, supported by roles, workflow, standards, quality assurance, and tooling.

The question is whether the organization can continue creating the next course coherently. That makes scale a property of how the work is organized, as well as how much has already been delivered.
